Nonene

Nonene, also called propylene trimer, is an Alkene, C8-10-branched, C9-rich olefin produced by the oligomerization of propylene.

Nonene is most widely used as a chemical intermediate to produce additives for lubricants, acids, antioxidants, coatings, oxo-alcohols, plastics, resins and surfactants.

Janex is the leading independent global distributor of nonene.

Supply is performed either in parcel tankers or in iso-tanks.

Nonene: CAS 97593-01-6 / EC: 307-301-9

CAS 27215-95-8 / EC: 248-339-5

CAS : 97280-95-0/ EC: 306-492-6

All three CAS numbers are used on the market.

Process:

By propylene oligomerisation using a solid catalyst (e.g. phosphoric acid (SPA), zeolites), polygas - a higher olefin liquid mixture – is produced.

Through a continuous or batch distillation process, various molecules can be extracted; one of them being nonene.

Main Applications:

Nonene is used as a building block in the production of a number of chemical intermediate materials including:

  • Di-nonyl naphthalene
  • Iso-decanol
  • Neodecanoic acid and it’s esters
  • Nonenyl succinic anhydride
  • Nonylated diphenylamine
  • Nonyl mercaptan
  • Nonylphenol and ethoxylates
